Sowripalayam to Peelamedu - A snail pace experience

The 20 feet road between Sowripalayam to Peelamedu is extremely congested leading to frequent traffic snarls.

Close to six buses operate through the route creating a tough situation for the motorists and pedestrians. The two-wheelers and four-wheelers have to stroll behind the buses all the way through till the main road at snail pace.

A resident, who owns an electrical spare parts shop at Sowripalayam, suggested that the number of buses that operate through the route should be reduced to two. He revealed that multiple surveys have been conducted by the authorities to widen the road to 50 feet but no initiation has been made till date, he stated.

A motorist who regularly commutes between Sowripalayam and Peelamedu put forth his view that alternate roads should be identified by the authorities instead of widening the existing road to 50 feet.

The residents are of the view that the authorities should re-route the buses to alternate roads and devise plans to minimise traffic halts. The traffic halts cause enormous air pollution around the area, they lamented.
