'Emerald dove' - the State bird of Tamilnadu rescued

The people of Mathavarayapuramnallur, a suburb in Coimbatore, spotted an injured dove which was chased by crows. The locals rescued the dove but the fascinating emerald color on its wings made the locals think if it could be a rare species. Hence they intimated the Forest officials about the incident.

The officials took the bird to the Veterinary hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the bird recovered well and they set it free.

The forest officials stated that the rescued dove is an 'Emerald dove' and is the State bird of Tamilnadu. The bird can be spotted around Siruvani and Mettupalayam reserve forest regions.
