Today, a meeting was convened by the District Collector at Sidhapudur Corporation Higher Secondary School to emphasise on the State Scholarship Programme announced by J. Jayalalitha, Chief Minister of Tamilnadu to impart education to the economically weaker sections of the people.
The Scholarship programme is devised to assist the Adi-Dravidar /Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste Convert students studying in Government Schools and Government recognised Schools and Colleges.
All compulsory fees, Examination fees, maintenance charges to Day Scholars and Hostlers will be sanctioned through the Scheme. The district of Coimbatore had outstandingly performed well in terms of reach of these scholarship schemes to the students community.
Hence in the today's meet, Collector discussed in detail with the school authorities to create awareness amongst the student community on the eligibility criteria and on all special subsidies and allowances allocated towards their welfare.
Adi-Dravidar Welfare Officer P. Mohan, District Educational Officer, Gandhimathi, Adi-Dravidar and Tribal welfare association member Selvakumar and other government officials participated in the meeting.
