The first week of August (1st - 7th August) is celebrated as the “WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK” all over the world.
Coimbatore Children’s Hospital will use World Breastfeeding Week 2016 to highlight the need to promote and normalize breastfeeding in our communities.
According to Dr. Karthick Annamalai.C, Consultant Pediatrician & Neonatologist of Coimbatore Children’s Hospital says that as part of “World breastfeeding week”, our doctors and staffs are advocates for breastfeeding and we aim to maximize the breastfeeding rates in our city.
To raise awareness & community engagement, various events have been organized in Namma Coimbatore in the first week of August 1st to August 7th.
On August 3, Wednesday, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, Dr. Vijaya Karthikeyan would be officially inaugurating our breastfeeding week celebrations.
We are also giving awareness talks in many colleges across the city to college students who would be the prospective parents.
We have a dedicated counselor who would guide and answer the queries of young mothers who are in need of help. The counselors will be for a week at our Coimbatore Children’s hospital campus.
