An Elephant death has been reported at the Tamilnadu-Kerala border.

Reports state, the 10-year-old female elephant was knocked down by Mangalore-Chennai West Coast Express at around 5.50 am near Pudhupadhi railway gate area. The elephant was thrown away into a 20 feet deep pit, adjoining the track.

The forest officials along with veterinarians immediately rushed to the spot. The medical team provided required first aid assistance but unfortunately, the elephant died without responding to the treatment.

The forest officials have initiated the investigation and planned for a Post Mortem.
