Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan inaugurated the breastfeeding room at Coimbatore Children’s hospital at Avarampalayam in Coimbatore on Thursday as part of the “World breastfeeding Week” (August 1st to 7th).
Dr. Vijayakarthikeyan inaugurated the model breastfeeding room and told the mothers present at the venue, it is appreciated that doctors like Karthick Annamalai and various hospitals doctors in the city coming forward for a social cause and conducting world breastfeeding week awareness programs.
Due to the breastfeeding by mothers on regular basis, the disease rate comes down and healthy environment prevails in the country. He also urges the entire community to spread awareness about breastfeeding and its importance, said Dr. Vijayakarthikeyan Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner.
Followed by Coimbatore corporation commissioner speech, Dr. Karthick Annamalai.C, Consultant Pediatrician & Neonatologist of Coimbatore Children’s Hospital said that “We protect, promote and support breastfeeding”. Earlier Chennai Corporation had the exclusive breastfeeding room in public places; the breastfeeding room had to come up in public places like Cinema theatres, Bus stand, Railway station and all public gathering places, he said.
Hundreds of Mothers along with their kids were present at the hospital and were listening to the speech given by Coimbatore corporation commissioner Dr. Vijayakarthikeyan and Dr. Karthick Annamalai.C, Consultant Pediatrician & Neonatologist of Coimbatore Children’s Hospital.
Dedicated counselor was also present at Coimbatore Children’s hospital campus to guide and answer the queries of young mothers about breastfeeding at the hospital.
