Satish Kumar (29) and ArunKumar (22) were employees of a private company at Sowripalayam engaged in refilling cash at ATM's across the city.
The duo were assigned the work to refill cash at seven ATM's located on the Pollachi- Udumalpet road.
The duo used to collect the cash from the bank and then deposit it in the designated ATM's by two-wheelers. In May 2016, the bank authorities noticed a discrepancy in cash amounting to Rs. 1 crore and 32 lakhs jointly all the seven ATM's at Pollachi-Udumalpet location. They immediately escalated the issue to their dispersing agency's main branch at Sowripalayam. On scrutinizing the records they figured out that the duo have been looting cash over a period of time.
The branch manager Thakur Ali Khan of the security agency filed a complaint against them at the Sowripalayam Police station, who found that the accused had already absconded from the city.
The City Commissioner, Amalraj had ordered to form a special team to seize the accused at the earliest. After three months of frantic search the accused were nabbed by the special team at Himachal Pradesh.
The duo were produced at the Coimbatore Judicial Court today and were remanded under judicial custody.
