The Rotary Club of Coimbatore in association with Coimbatore Districts Sports and Games Welfare Association conducted an inter-school band competition at PRS grounds, Avinashi Road, today.
City Corporation Mayor, Thiru. P. Rajkumar was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function and Rtn. Marappan, Assistant Governor, Rotary Club of Coimbatore, was the Guest of Honor for the evening. Rtn. MPHF. Gurpreet Singh, President Rotary Club of Coimbatore and Thiru.S. Ramachandran, President, CBE Dist. Sports and Games Welfare Association welcomed the chief guests.
The event was organised exclusively for school children, as a part of the Rotary’s ‘Youth development programme’. The Project Chairman Rtn. K. Sundaramoorthy and Director- Youth Service Rtn. PHF. Rajesh Bohra co-ordinated the event. Totally 1200 students from 25 schools participated in the event.
SSVM School won the Outstanding Award. Under the co-education category, St. Josephs School, Ondipudur, was awarded first. Avila convent's band team was awarded first, under the girls only category and CMS School's band team was awarded first in boys only category. Under the other districts category, Lawrence School, Ooty.
