The 10-day Onam celebrations have already begun from 5th September, onwards. It is in honour of King Mahabali that Onam is celebrated, it is believed that he visits annually from the nether world to see his people living happily. The tenth and final day of Onam celebrations that culminates the 10 days of Onam Carnival is the 'Thiruvonam'. The 'Thriruvonam' will be celebrated on 14th September.
Various educational institutions celebrated Onam, today in a grandeur manner.Students participated with zest in various traditional competitions like Uriyadi, Oonjal attam, rangoli, Thiruvatharai dance and exhibited their enthusiasm and jubiliation.
