Thol. Thirumavalavan, President of the 'Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi' was in the city to attend an official party meet at Erode. At a press meet organised at the Coimbatore airport, he shared his views on the persistent Cauvery and Siruvani issues prevailing in the state of Tamil Nadu.
He stated that the 15 TMC water was disbursed by Karnataka, out of the order issued by the Supreme court, there was no intervention by the Central Government on the issue.
The Prime Minister should convene a meeting with the Chief Ministers’ of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and discuss on the long-pending water disputes and arrive at a permanent and fair solution for the issue. ‘An all party meeting should be devised by the Chief Minister and a common agenda with the consent of all parties on the water-sharing issue should be derived' he insisted. However, even after repeated suggestions put-forth by political outfits in TN, the CM has still not called for a meeting, he said.
‘The photos that have been circulated in the web does not belong to our party’s protest on cauvery issue, it’s a photo that was taken during some other protest longtime back’, he assured.
He apprised that severe action should be initiated against people who are trying to ruin the peace in the state of Tamil Nadu in the name of ’Anaithu Samuthaya Periyakkam’.
Shortly, a meeting comprising of MDMK, Marxist Communist, Communist Party of India, Viduthalai Chiruthaikal will be held to discuss on the stare-sharing issues. He evoked on the atrocities against Dalits in Tamil Nadu and alleged that the government has failed to protect the interests of the Dalits.
VCK is planning to file a petition judicially urging action against the people, who indulge in anti-dalit activities. The police department should take stern action against such offenders, under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
