Various trade associations and farmer associations in Tamil Nadu have called for a state-wide bandh, tomorrow, condemning the violence staged against Tamil community people in Karnataka and seeking justice in the on-going Cauvery dispute.
Petrol pumps, commercial establishments, Omni buses, private educational institutions unions' have extended their firm support for tomorrow's bandh, which will extend from 6am to 6pm. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) the opposition party have also extended their support. Most of the political outfits have affirmed their participation, as well. However the ruling AIADMK will not participate in the bandh.
The press association has informed that they would all wear back outfits to show their support for the bandh and as an act of condemning the Karnataka Government on the Cauvery issue.
The farmers association, all major trade unions along with political outfits have planned to demonstrate their agitation in the form of road & rail roko and rallies. Hence, the security has been beefed up across all cities in Tamilnadu.
It is advisable to stock up on groceries, vegetables, milk and even fuel as the Tamilnadu Vanigar Sangam, private milk distributors union and Tamil Nadu Petroleum Dealers’ Association are participating in the bandh. However, Aavin milk distribution and Government buses will stay unaffected, says sources.
