It's indeed a very proud moment to cherish as the young fencing champion from Coimbatore has proved her passion and dream and bagged a bronze medal at the 'International Open Fencing' Championship in Thailand.
T.TamilKani, a fencing Champion and a final year Mechanical engineering student from Government College of Technology (GCT) has won bronze at the 'International Open Fencing' tournament held in Thailand from September 16th to 20th. She has already bagged four gold in State level competitions and three gold, two silver and two bronze medals at the National level, tournaments held in Chhattisgarh.

Tamilkani, was in need of funds to participate in the event at Thailand. At this stage Tamilkani with the help of Mr. Sarvanan Chandrasekar of Wild Wing Trust contacted 'SOCIAL CAPITAL', an initiative launched by Coimbatore Corporation. The social capital team led by Corporation Commissioner, Dr. Vijaya Karythikeyan, through their efforts pooled in a sum of Rs. 86500 and handed over to Tamilkani. Corporation Commissioner, donated a part of his salary in the pooled amount to help the out the budding Champion.
