On Wednesday, a seven-year-old leopard was found dead near a tea estate at Nadugula Reserve Forest, Kotagiri. Based on the information passed on by a tea estate owner, the forest department went to the spot and found the dead carcass of the leopard.
The veterinarian team performed the post-mortem on the spot and sent the body samples to Chennai for further analysis. However, that confirmed that no external injuries were spotted and hence the animal could have died due to prolonged illness.
