Bharathiyar University Inter Collegiate Chess Tournament initiated today at the R.V.Arts Colleg Karamadai


Bharathiyar University's Intercollegiate 3-day 'Chess Tournament' in association with Coimbatore District Chess Association was flagged off today by Mr.V.Ramakrishnan Trustee, R.V College of Arts and Science at Karamadai.



The tournament has received representations from more than 40 colleges affiliated to Bharathiyar University from the district. Two categories, group and individual competitions and will be conducted on the basis of Swiss method.



The group matches will comprise of 7 rounds and the individual with 9 rounds. Presently, the group matches are on and the Individual matches would commence tomorrow. The entries for individual competitions will be accepted till tomorrow morning. The first six winners from the Individual category will be qualified to represent the University at the 'All India Inter University Chess Tournament'.



The prizes will be distributed for the winners on1st October 2016 during the valedictory function. Dr.D.Anandagopal Principal, R.V College of Arts and Science, staffs and students were present during the inaugural function.
