Representatives of Indian Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Coimbatore chapter headed by its President Vanitha Mohan met Hari Shankar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Salem Division today. During this meeting they requested the DRM to increase the number of trains plying between Coimbatore and Bengaluru. Representatives from the ICCI also made a request to increase the frequency of trains, connecting these two regions, during the holiday seasons.

Another request was also made during this meeting. A railway line is already running around the city and the representatives stated that if the Podanur Junction and Irugur Junction are connected the entire city will be connected. DRM acknowledged this request and he stated that he would revert in this regard.
The DRM today also interacted with the office-bearers and members Coimbatore chapter of the ICCI and entrepreneurs of this region to discuss with them plans of developing the Coimbatore Junction railway station.
During his interaction with those gathered, Hari stated that very soon the multilevel car parking facility will be made available at the Coimbatore Junction. The initial step towards this initiative has been taken he added.
“There are two goods sheds one in Vadakovai and Irugur. However, only the one in Vadakovai is being extensively used by a majority of people. This has resulted in creating traffic congestion on this stretch. The public must take advantage of the goods shed in Irugur too. This will solve many-a-problems.” Hari said.
Commenting on setting up of the railway line between Podanur and Pollachi, Hari went on record stating that work will resume post inspection. Lastly, the DRM requested the public to keep the Railway Junction premises neat and clean.
