Action sought against Arjun Sampath for intimidating pictures

Members of various organisations have demanded action against Hindu Munnani leader Arjun Sampath for posting a picture on Facebook in which he is seen performing Ayudha pooja for weapons including a gun. They have also filed a complaint with the Coimbatore police commissioner. Arjun Sampath on the other hand has claimed that the gun in the picture is a toy gun.

Arjun Sampath celebrated  Ayutha pooja in his home in Ukkadam. He shared images of teis celebration on Facebook. Organisations from Chennai and Coimbatore were quick to react. They have lodged complaints seeking investigation on how Arjun Sampath was able to get the weapons used by army and police. The petitioners also requested the necessary authorities to ascertain if Arjun Sampath has links with any terrorist organisation.

In Coimbatore, Marumalarchi Tamilaga Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam, Popular Front of India, All Muslim Jamats and Thanthai Periyar Drvidar  Kazhagam lodged a complaint at the Coimbatore commissioner's office.  In the complaint they have stated that Arjun Sampath who is known to openly to support Hindu terrorism is trying to spread violence again in the city by indulging in such activities. If the police is not taking any action judicial help will be sought in this problem. They also petitioned the commissioner to arrest Arjun Sampath under the Arms Prohibition Act in this regard.

Sampath, Arjun’s father has denied all allegations and also has stated that the gun used in the pooja was a toy gun. He added that the swords in the picture are gifts received on various occasions.

Within a short span of time of posting the picture on Facebook members of various organisations filed a series of complains against Arjun. Police enquiry revealed that the gun belongs to the police who was on duty at Arjun Sampath's house. Coimbatore police commissioner Amalraj has directed the Assistant Commissioner to investigate the incident. The police has sought legal advice on action that needs to be taken against Arjun Sampath.
