10-days-old abandoned elephant calf sent to Mudumalai tiger reserve


A ten-day-old elephant calf that was abandoned near the reserve forest at the Sirumugai Forest Range was rescued by the forest department offcials. The calf has been safely shifted to elephant camp at Theppakadu in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) for medical treatment. 



The calf was provided with required nutritional supplements and medical care as it looked tried and fearful. , it was kept at an elephant camp at Theppakadu in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR). 'A team of veterinarians will be closely monitoring the calf, as it's too young to be separated from it's mother', said sources.
