A short circuit caused a fire accident in a coaching academy in R S Puram last evening. At the time of this accident, this building had 60 people. A few of them were aspirants attempting a mock examination at this coaching center. Six of them who suffered suffocation were rushed to the Government Hospital (GH). Sakthivel (23) a student of the academy was declared brought dead on arrival, one was critical. Four of them are employees of this coaching center.
Dr. Edwin Joe, Dean, Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) shared with SimpliCity that the five patients are responding well to treatment. “All five patients underwent treatment for suffocation and they will be discharged today. Gayathri whose condition was critical at the time of admission is out of danger and she too will be sent home today.” Dr. Edwin Joe says.
Speculations are running high as to what caused this fire accident. Dr. Edwin Joe, Dean, CMCH, District Collector, TN Hariharan and Commissioner of Police A. Amalraj have stated that a short circuit could have caused this accident. They rule out the possibility of firecrackers causing this fire accident. However, the exact cause of this accident is yet to be determined.
