Tribal seeks action against people for discriminating them on basis of caste

Tribals who live in Ganapathipalayam near Pollachi filled an First Information Report (FIR) with the police as a verbal war of words broke out between them and a few locals in the name of caste. On occasion of the festival of lights people unite and forget all differences. However, on diwali in the name of caste, a few tribal families living in Ganapathipalayam were verbally abused by a few locals of this region.

It has been reported that while a few tribals form this hamlet were walking towards their home, a few residents of this region were bursting fire crackers before their homes. One of the cracker fell on some tribals and injured them. The tribals who were on foot raised an objection. This instigated an tussle between the tribals and the residents of this region. The latter in the name of caste verbally abused the tribals. Subsequently, the injured tribals were admitted at the Government Hospital (GH), Pollachi.

An FIR in this regard has been filed by the tribals at the Pollachi police station. Condemning this action and seeking immediate action against the issue, Thenarasu of Makkal VIduthalai Munani' has warned to call for a protest.
