Elephant delivers calf in Tea estate at Valparai

Sighting of Elephants in the Valparai landscape is become a common phenomenon for the locals of that hilly terrain. The rampage of elephants on buildings, ration shops, school, noon-meal centres and kitchens of households, where food grains are stored is become apart and parcel of their daily living.

Yesterday at the Vagamalai estate that is situated close to the Kerala border, a herd of dozen elephants were spotted roaming in the estate premise for a couple of days. The estate workers today morning spotted an elephant with it's new born calf. The forest officials were intimated of the same. The estate workers are advised to stay away from the mother and calf and strictly not to disturb the duo.
