10 tons of smuggled rice seized by officials.


The police received a tip-off that rice meant for sale in the fair price shops are been smuggled to the neighboring State Kerala. Based on this hint, the police tightened the vigil across the check posts on the state border.  

At the Ramapattinam check post, Pollachi the Prevention of trafficking in Food Guards Division officials were inspecting the vehicles. On noticing that two men got off from a lorry that they was close to the inspection site and fled away. On scrutiny, they found the lorry was carrying ten tons of rice from fair a price shop. It is believed that this rice was being smuggled to neighboring Kerala.

An investigation is on to trace the source of this rice and a search is on for those involved in the offense.
