Father cheated on promise of help for daughter's treatment

Nagaraj father of eight year old Rajakumari who is a resident of Sulur in Coimbatore has been cheated by an individual named Praveen who promised to help the girl’s father with funds from Raghava Lawrence's trust for the treatment of his deaf and dumb daughter.

It  is learnt that Nagaraj has been approaching many companies and NGOs for Rajakumari's treatment for the past seven years. As he did not get any help, he filed a petition at the chief minister special cell for help. Following which he was informed to meet the Coimbatore collector.

It is reported that the officials stopped him from meeting the collector. Nagaraj advertised for help through the newspapers. Praveen learnt of Nagaraj through an advertisement in the newspaper and get in touch with him. Praveen introduced himself to Nagaraj as someone on behalf of trust run by actor Raghava Lawrence who is widely known to help people who are in need of help.

Praveen also promised Nagaraj that he would help him obtain Rs. 3 lakhs from Raghava Lawrence's trust. He also informed Nagaraj that more people are willing to help. He asked Nagaraj to send copies of Ration Card and Aadhar card copies through e-mail. Praveen also informed Nagaraj that an account has to be opened in the name of the child in order to transfer the money for which Rs 8,000 had to be paid to the manager of the bank.

Subsequently, Nagaraj, deposited Rs.8000 in the account of Shankar who spoke to Nagaraj claiming to the bank employee. When Nagaraj tried to contact the persons through their mobile phones he was shocked to learn that the mobile phones of Praveen and Shankar were switched off. He also discovered that he has been cheated.

Nagaraj lodged a complaint with the Sulur police station and the Police refused to accept the complaint as there was not enough evidence to support the claim. Nagaraj also filed a complaint at the Coimbatore Police Commissioner's office in which he sought immediate action as they may indulge in more such activities using his child's information. This incident has once again reiterated the need for a medical care system for the downtrodden section of the society.
