ICCI hosts 'Coming together' - a meet to discuss the trending trade issues

'Coming together' is an event that was organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) today at the Residency towers, Avinashi Road. Presidents and Office bearers of active chambers functioning in Tamilnadu participated in the meet. Vanitha Mohan, President, Coimbatore Chapter, ICCI welcomed the dignitaries and the participants.

'Coming together' aims at working hand-in-hand with the Government to resolve the issues that are impeding the success of the state of Tamilnadu. De-monetization, GST, labour management, single window clearance, Infrastructure enhancement, betterment of existing transport facilities and some long-pending decisions and plans were also the matters that were discussed in detail at this session. The role of the trade bodies and associations in contributing to the success of the economy by setting goals and implementation process were derived and proposed during the meet.

Speaking on this,Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce, Senior President, S.Rathinavelu said that, 'Till now each district chamber works individualistically. And that is a major problem, as our combined demands were not reaching the central government. Now all the chambers in Tamilnadu will represent together as one unit.'

While commenting on de-monetization he said that the hardships faced by people are temporary and this initiative will put an end to black money At the same time, more 500's and 100's could have been pumped in instead of 2000's, he said. The first issue they will represent to the central government is about the single window clearance system which will help in achieving ease of business and also enable to push Tamilnadu's ranking status from 18th to 12th, the previous position. He also emphasized on Corporatization of agriculture so that more youngsters will be involved in the sector, as continued depletion in agricultural lands will leave to scarcity of food for the future generations.

Chamber representatives from Dindigul, Salem, Madurai, Udhagamandalam, Tirupur, Trichy, Karur, Mettupalayam and Pollachi were present during the meet.
