Father attempts suicide at the collector’s office seeking information on his missing son.


Bhoomi from Vadavalli attempted self-immolation in front of the Coimbatore collector’s office, today as his son who was arrested by police for enquiry is reported missing. Bhoomi is a construction worker living in Ramasamy Thillai Street in Vadavalli. His son Sarathkumar, also a construction worker is said to have been picked up by police personnel from Vadavalli for an enquiry a week earlier.

It has been reported that his (Sarathkumar’s) whereabouts are not known till now and police are also refusing to give information about him. Today, Sarathkumar’s father Bhoomi attempted to immolate himself in front of Coimbatore collector’s office. The alert police on duty arrested and took him to the Race Course police station.

This incident garnered the attention of the officials and created tense moments, as the incident took place at a time, when a high-level meeting of the central government officials about the demonetisation of currency was taking place inside the Collector’s office.
