The young and the old will cherish memories of this get-together forever!

City-based NGO Eera Nenjam Trust cares for the homeless elderly persons. Yesterday, the founder and the volunteers of this NGO, hosted an event of a different kind. About 60 orphan children from Michael Job School in Sulur Coimbatore, visited the government shelter home for the elderly in the city that is maintained by the Eera Nenjam Trust. This event was put together by city-based Jaya Mahesh, who never misses an opportunity to put a smile on people's face.



Students of this school are orphaned or disowned for various reasons by their biological parents. They are originally from different states of our country, yet they live as one big family. In an event that was hosted by the Eera Nenjam Trust, the elderly persons who are disowned by their family came face to face with the children of this school.



Emotions ran high as the young and the old who sailing on one boat, came together under one roof. However, entertainment took centre stage and the older men and women in the audience shed tears of joy as they watched the children of Michael Job School perform various cultural events. The children from Manipur, Shimla and Gujarat sang songs in their native language and students from Tamil Nadu enthralled the audience with their Silambattam dance performances.  







As part of the programme, games were organised for the elderly people where they turned kids again and towards the end, healthy snacks and refreshment were served to all. The inmates of the shelter home for the aged, who participated in this event shared that it was a different experience for them interacting with the kids.







To show their mark of respect for the elderly, the kids gave each one of them hand-crafted cards and the older people blessed the kids.
