Coimbatore-Pollachi gauge conversion will be completed by end of January, says, GM, Southern Railways

Vashishta Johri, General Manager of Southern Railways was at Pollachi to inspect the on-going line gauge conversion work between Podanur and Pollachi route.

While speaking to the press, he affirmed that 'The last stretch of work is in progress. The conversion of the track from metre gauge to broad gauge will be completed by the end of January'.

Once completed, this railway route will be an important link between Pollachi to Coimbatore that will drastically reduce the road traffic. The route will be boon for all daily commuters who ply between Coimbatore and Pollachi for work purposes through the congested Pollachi road in buses and two-wheelers with high risk of accidents.

With less than 40 minutes, these commuters can reach Pollachi once this route is declared open.
