It has been reported that activists who are having a close watch over the Kurichi Lake noticed a mini truck emptying waste into this lake. Subsequently, the activists who are a part of the Kurichi lake protection movement informed the officials of the dumping.
Sharing details about this incident, with SimpliCity, one of the activists said “As soon as we observed that the mini truck has dumped waste into the Kurichi Lake, we confiscated the truck and informed the PWD officials. However, three hours passed and officials failed to visit this location. Following which, we ensured that the persons who dumped the waste into this lake, removed the waste.”
While activists, environmentalist, volunteers and NGOs in the city are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that our water bodies are clean, it is heartening to know that officials of the concerned departments fail to offer their timely presence.
Incidents like this will hugely demotivate those who are working tirelessly towards conservation of the water bodies and putting all that to restore back to form.
