Coimbatore forest department team rushes to Chennai to help in rescue operations

Updated at 9pm: As instructed by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HOFF), Principal Chief Conservator of Forests ( Research), Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Genetics), Coimbatore, a special team comprising of 2 Rangers, 5 Foresters and 5 watchers and 15 labourers from Salem, Villupuram, Coimbatore and other districts have been formed to assist the rescue operations in Chennai. This team will depart to Chennai under the supervision of Arokiaraj Xavier, Divisional Forest Officer, Modern nursery Division, Dharmapuri.

This team will visit Chennai and assist the existing rescue operation's team in the aftermath of the devastating Vardah cyclone that hit Chennai, a couple of days ago.

As close to 10,000 trees have been uprooted during this cyclone, equipments like power saw, mechanized axe and ropes have been sent along with the team to aid in clearing the debris of the uprooted trees.
