The fourth 'Go kart design and racing championship' is being hosted at the Kari Motor Speedway in Chettipalayam. This event is recognised by the Indian Society of New Era Engineers. As a part of this competition, college students will race karts designed and fabricated by them.
When speaking to the press Umesh, President of the organising committee said, “Around 169 colleges from all over the country have participated in this event. After regular inspections, tests to check the brakes, acceleration, tilt test, noise test, skip pad test, autocross and endurance tests will be carried out by the expert panel of judges.
97 teams were selected to participate in the second round and 38 teams were selected to participate in the final. And, 20 teams are participating in the competition which will be hosted tomorrow.”
“The competition is conducted with the aim of encouraging students to participate in the motor sport racing and to persuade them to create environment-friendly vehicles. The event will be platform for the students to display their passion for design and racing skills. A prize of Rs. 3 lakhs will be distributed to the winners under various categories.” he said.
