Senior communist leader, G. Ramakrishnan met the press in Coimbatore and expressed his view on the on-going protests hosted across the state of Tamil Nadu by the youth for conduct of Jallikattu.
“Marxist communist party supports and respects the Jallikattu protests conducted by the young citizens.' he said.
He also raised the question as to, 'Why the state and the central governments were completely silent about passing the ordinance well before the youth protests or amending the prevention of cruelty to animals act?'. Such heedless attitude of the governments at the state and the central is the sole reason for the youth to hold such massive and determined protests. The youth and people have lost faith on the governments.
'An ordinance should be passed in the Parliament which would be the permanent solution for the Jallikattu issue. As stood for Jallikattu, the youth should be come forward and protest for issues related to the livelihood of the people, he said.
Speaking on the recent Bhavani check dam issue by Kerala government, the senior CPM leader requested the Tamil Nadu state government to release the report prepared by the public works department about the issue. 'If the reports of construction of check dams are true, undoubtedly the community party of India (Marxist) will fight for people's welfare.” he affirmed.
