Chennai: The effervescent and young Bharathiar University tennis team had reason to rejoice even though they emerged as runners-up in the South Zone Inter-university Tennis Tournament for men, since it qualified for the All India Inter-university Tennis Tournament, starting today at the SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.
Chennai: The effervescent and young Bharathiar University tennis team had reason to rejoice even though they emerged as runners-up in the South Zone Inter-university Tennis Tournament for men, since it qualified for the All India Inter-university Tennis Tournament, starting today at the SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.
The South Zone Inter-university tennis tournament was hosted by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology at their college premises where 68 universities from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra, Telangana vied for the championship.
The team of five students comprised of Bharath Nishok Kumaran, L R Balaji, R Ramakrishnan, R Harnish and R Karthik Kumar from PSG College of Arts and Science who represented Bharathiar University in the tennis tournament held between February 15-19.

The Bharathiar University team showed their skill and technique right from the start of the tournament as they went on to defeat their opponents convincingly. They defeated SRM University by 3-0 in the semi finals to book a spot in the finals. Similarly, a strong and dominating Madras University qualified for the finals, beating Bharathiar University and emerging winners of the tournament.
