CCMC Commissioner urges public to book reservations for 'Lantern Festival 2022' to be held at Valankulam flyover in Coimbatore

Coimbatore Smart City Limited has organized an event called 'Sky Lantern Festival' below the Valankulam flyover on October 22 from 6 pm to 8 pm for the public to celebrate Diwali.


Coimbatore: For the first time in Coimbatore, a 'Lantern Festival' is being organised on a grand scale by Coimbatore Smart City Limited. The festival will be held on October 22 from 6 pm to 8 pm below the Valankulam flyover.

The 'Sky Lantern Festival' as it is known for Diwali day will showcase lanterns being lit and released upward into the sky. The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner, M Prathap urged the public to participate in the event by registering on 7904163689/9566383542 mobile numbers.

In recent times, Coimbatore Smart City Limited has been making a concerted effort to bring people closer to the natural assets in the city, like the lakes which have been restored to house migratory birds and engage people in the city. A group of young and vibrant architects based in Coimbatore have initiated the idea of celebrating nature by organising a series of events to improve human interaction with nature.

'Lunar grammam,' a one-of-a-kind event was designed to celebrate the moon festival while for the Diwali festive season, Phase 4 alongside Coimbatore Smartcity Limited is organising the 'Lantern Festival.'

The 'Lantern Festival 2022' is a potpourri of exciting happenings, including music, food and bright-lit lanterns.
