Coimbatore Police Commissioner, West Zone IG offer floral tributes to police martyrs at Neethar Memorial to mark Police Commemoration Day

On behalf of the City Police, homage was paid to police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty at the 'Neethar Memorial' at the Police Training School ground in Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Every year on October 21, 'Police Commemoration Day' is observed across the country to pay homage to police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. Tributes are being paid to all police martyrs in their respective districts across the country.



Accordingly, on behalf of the City Police in Coimbatore district, a valour ceremony was held at the Neethar Memorial at the Police Training School ground to pay homage to the police personnel who died in the line of duty. City Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan, West Zone IG Sudhakar and others were present on the occasion.



Later, a 21-Gun salute was offered for all policemen who died during the line of duty.

Earlier in the day, the Director General of Police, D K Rajendran and the Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Dr. A K Viswanathan laid a wreath at the Police Memorial in the premises of the Office of the Director General of Police. DGP Shailendra Babu also laid a wreath on the memorial pillar at the DGP's office in Chennai.



As per the instructions of the Director General of Police, the Tamil Nadu Police are organizing various programmes such as essay competition, painting competition etc. on behalf of the martyred police to mark Police Commemoration Day - 2022.
