Runaway school student from Tirunelveli rescued in Coimbatore

The K G Chavadi police rescued a 16-year-old boy who had left home from Tirunelveli district, rebelling against studying in a school. Later, the boy who was lodged at Don Bosco Anbu Illam was safely handed over to his parents and child welfare officers.

Coimbatore: A school student from Veeravanallur in Tirunelveli district studying in Class 10 ran away from his hometown since he preferred working in a shop rather than going to school.

The boy's parents reportedly scolded the boy regularly, and were forcing him to go to school. Six days ago, in a fit of anger, the boy left the house, leaving his parents distraught and searching for him in different places.

Coimbatore police who were patrolling near K G Chavadi in Coimbatore on Tuesday saw a boy walking alone. When called and questioned, the boy told the police officials that he had left home. He also confessed that he had travelled to Kerala by train from Tirunelveli, and reached the Walayar border on foot.

Following the boy's confession, the police rescued him and informed his parents in Tirunelveli. The officials also kept him in Don Bosco Anbu Illam. After the boy's parents arrived in Coimbatore on Tuesday, Child Welfare officers and the police handed the boy over safely to his parents.
