Govindaraj, a differently-abled man, who was selling lottery tickets in the Kuniyamuthur area, was arrested by the police. Police seized 39,500 in cash and lottery tickets from him.

Coimbatore: The sale of lottery tickets of other states is banned under the Tamil Nadu Gift Schemes (Prohibition Act), 1979 and the ban came into effect in 2003.

The arrested has been identified as Govindaraj, a 70-year-old man from Podanur. Police seized 166 lottery tickets from his possession. A total of Rs 6,640 worth of lottery tickets worth Rs 40 per ticket were seized.

The Police also seized Rs 39,500 in cash from the person who is said to be a differently abled person.
