Aspiring chefs added spice and flavour to the Sankara Master Brigade -2017 contest


The role of any academic institution is to train and mentor its students. Students’ from the creative discipline of study, learn by practising their subject. The stream of catering science is no different. In order to provide the students of Catering Science and Hotel Management a platform to display their culinary skills, Catering Science and Hotel Management of Sankara College of Science and Commerce hosted ‘Sankara Master Brigade -2017’ competition on 11th February 2017.



The competition was aimed to explore the culinary skills, creativity and team work of the budding young chefs. Intensively planned to motivate the students to upgrade their knowledge and telecast their skills with a wide exposure, this cooking contest was hosted.



In this competition 8 different events such as Iron Chef, Bonne Glacier, Craving Carver, Paper presentation, Quiz Competition and 3 on stage events to check the basic culinary skills of the young chefs were hosted.



Each event has different judges from hospitality industry. The final judgment and the prize distribution was done by Chef. Kumaran B, Executive Chef, Trident Oberoi, Cochin and Abdul Rehman Qureshi, Executive Chef, Le Meridien, Coimbatore.



First Prize was awarded to Christ University Bangalore and Chenny’s Institute of Hotel Management was recognized as the runners team.  The Rolling Trophy was awarded to the winners.

In the valedictory function, Sandhya Ramachandran, Joint Secretary,  Sankara Educational Institutions, Nithya Ramachandran Deputy Join Secretary, Sankara Educational Institutions and Principal Dr.H.Balakrishnan were present along with the invited judges.

‘Sankara Master Brigade -2017’ was put together by Bernard Edward, vice principal and head, staff members and students of Catering Science and Hotel Management.
