Lok Adalat in Udumalpet, Tiruppur - 158 cases settled for around Rs 4 crore

As many as 158 cases were settled at the People's Court held on behalf of the Taluk Legal Services Committee at Udumalpet for more than Rs 4 crore.


Tirupur: A total of 158 cases were disposed of at the People's Court held at Udumalpet in Tiruppur district.

People's Court was held in the courts on Kachcheri Road on behalf of Udumalai Taluk Legal Services Committee. This Lok Adalat was held in 4 sittings.

The event was presided over by Manikandan, chairman of the Udumalai Taluk Legal Services Committee and sub-judge. District Munsif Judge Balamurugan, JM1 Judge Vijayakumar presided the hearing. The cases were resolved in the presence of 2 judges.

Accordingly, 77 cases related to petty offences amounting to Rs 1,22,200 and out of 22 cases of cheque fraud, Rs 42,75,000 was settled in 10 cases.

Out of the 25 cases of bank loans, 15 cases amounted to Rs 63,66,608 and in 95 cases of motor vehicle accidents, 42 cases amounted to Rs 2,67,52,533.

Of the 10 divorce cases, three cases were disposed for Rs 2,38,000, while in 52 other civil cases, 11 cases amounted to Rs 81,18,546 were disposed

A total of 281 cases were taken up and 158 cases were disposed of for Rs 4,58,72,000 and 887 were disposed of.

Government pleaders Sethuraman Ravichandran and advocate Senthilkumar Sathyavani, insurance company and bank officials, senior and young lawyers, and the general public participated in the meeting.
