Lone elephant ‘Sulli komban’ roams around arterial Pollachi – Valparai road striking fear among motorists

The wild creature has been often spotted on Valparai - Pollachi road, particularly in the mornings and evenings. It walks up to the first hairpin bend after crossing the Aliyar dam in the arterial road.



Coimbatore: A lone tusker nick-named ‘Sulli Komban’ has been entering the residential areas and frequenting the Valparai- Pollachi road due to which motorists and residents are panic-stricken.

The tusker is said to have entered Anamalai Tiger Reserve a few weeks ago from the Kerala forest areas and roamed about aimlessly.



The wild creature has been often spotted on Valparai - Pollachi road, particularly in the mornings and evenings.



It walks up to the first hairpin bend after crossing the Aliyar dam in the arterial road.



The jumbo is also visiting Navamalai TANGEDCO employees' quarters and creating panic there.



Following this, the people of the area have requested the Forest department to chase away the elephant into dense forest areas.



In the meanwhile, the forest department officials have been advising motorists to exercise caution while travelling on the Valparai-Pollachi road.
