Man abandons stolen vehicle

The Thudiyalur police stopped a man from fleeing with the car and jewellery that he stole from two houses on the outskirts of the city on Sunday. A special team is on the lookout for the accused who fled from the spot.

Around 4.30 a.m. Sub Inspector M. Miadit Mano and his team were patrolling at Thoppampatti Pirivu when they found a car speeding. The police and home guards chased the car. On seeing the police, the driver abandoned the car at Thudiyalur and fled. The team found jewellery in the car and took the vehicle to the Thudiyalur police station.

Later the day, K. Chandramohan (25) of Aruljothi Nagar in Thoppampatti Pirivu, lodged a complaint with the police that his car was missing.

D. Balaprakash (35) of Ka.Pungampalayam in Marudhur near Karamadai lodged a complaint that some unidentified persons had broke into his house when he was out of town with his family on Saturday night and stolen an eight-sovereign gold chain.

During inquiry the police confirmed that the car and jewellery belonged to these complainants.
