Major breach in pipeline in Race Course area causes hardship to walkers and residents

In the meanwhile, the pipeline which was meant to irrigate the trees and plants developed breaches and waters continued to gush out like a fountain for the past few days.



Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Race Course area is a hot spot in the city. The area houses the quarters of government officials and educational institutions, including the District collector's residence.

In the meanwhile, various works are carried out in the area under the Smart City project, adding value to the locality.

A few months ago, footpaths were expanded under the Smart City project in the area and facilities were made available for children to exercise and play. Various trees and plants are also being planted and maintained.

City denizens use the place for their morning and evening walks. In addition, various programmes are also being conducted in the area on behalf of the Corporation and private companies.



In the meanwhile, the pipeline which was meant to irrigate the trees and plants developed breaches and waters continued to gush out like a fountain for the past few days.



People who do their morning and evening walking in the area were inconvenienced as the pipes were breached and water flowed out inundating the whole area.

The public has demanded that the Corporation should immediately plug the breaches and rectify the wastage of water, and ensure to take steps to find a permanent solution to such pipeline breaches in future.
