Human chain protest of Jacto-Geo in Coimbatore

The protest was demonstrated Near New Bus Stand, Sulur, Coimbatore District. Their demands pressed on the cancellation of the new pension scheme and the implementation of the old pension scheme. The demand included the immediate filling of 6 lakh vacancies across Tamil Nadu.


Coimbatore: More than 500 government employees participated in the human chain protest organized by the Joint Action Council of Teachers' Organisations-Government Employees' Organisations (Jacto-Geo) organization in the suburbs of Coimbatore with 15-point demands.



The protest was demonstrated Near New Bus Stand, Sulur, Coimbatore District. Their demands pressed on the cancellation of the new pension scheme and the implementation of the old pension scheme. The demand included the immediate filling of 6 lakh vacancies across Tamil Nadu.

The human chain protest was held emphasizing 15 demands, including the need to abandon the outsourcing system that is questioning the employment opportunities of the youth. In this protest, government employees including teachers, nutritionists and medical workers participated.



Government employees stood in a human chain for a distance of about one kilometre from the beginning of the new bus station to the market bend. More than 500 government employees participated in this human chain protest raising slogans to implement the old retirement pay scheme, to appoint permanent employees instead of appointing temporary employees in the government and to fill up the vacant posts immediately.
