Collector inaugurates Siruthuli's 15th ‘Nurture Nature Camp 2023’ for school students

Approximately 100 students from 18 schools have been participating in this enriching five-day camp.


Coimbatore: District collector Kranthi Kumar Pati inaugurated Siruthuli’s "Nature Nurture Camp 2023" and delivered his address, which was followed by special addresses from Guest of Honour Chief Education Officer Sai Geetha and President of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore West, Rtn. Jambu Kumar. Project Chairman Uma K. Rao provided an overview of the camp.



With a commitment to preserving Mother Earth for the overall well-being of all, Siruthuli proudly presents the 15th edition of the “Nurture Nature Camp 2023”, themed "Deep into Nature." This initiative aims to raise awareness about nature and our role in preserving it.



Approximately 100 students from 18 schools have been participating in this enriching five-day camp.

The event kicks off with an inaugural ceremony on April 18th, 2023, at VOC Park, near the “Pachainayagi” tree planted by our late President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Following invocation, Convenor Awareness Sujani Balu delivered the welcome address.



Managing Trustee of Siruthuli, Vanitha Mohan, welcomed the Chief Guest Kranthi Kumar Pati, IAS, and the students and gave an introduction about Siruthuli.



After the inauguration, students were taken to Noyyal Life Center for various sessions on nature's many facets. The first session, "Five Pillars of Siruthuli and Noyyal - Origin and its Flow through the City," was conducted by resource person Vidhya Narayanan. It was followed by "The Flowers & the Environment" session led by ShanthniBalu. Pradeep and Sudha presented the "Water Finds Its Own Way" and "Seed to Saplings" sessions.

On April 19th, 2023, students visited VM Farm in Perianaickenpalayam for engaging activities, including bullock cart and tractor rides, and learning about vermicomposting techniques.

They also attended special sessions on "Introduction to MaadiVanam (Nature at Home)" with resource persons Mani Sundar and Anu Valentina.

The third day (April 20th, 2023) will focus on afforestation, with sessions such as "When We Heal the Earth, We Heal Ourselves" (by ShanthniBalu), "Talk about Feathered Friends" (by AP Suresh), "Know Your Western Ghats" (by SaravananChandrasekar), "Nature Tales" (byArthi), and "Experience Sharing" (by Thanushgaran, Chairman of Kannan Departmental Store).

The afternoon will feature a skit on waste management by Unnamalai and short video clips highlighting the issues of clogged drains and plastic-choked waterways by Ms KumudhaPalanisamy. The final session will be about water

On April 21st, 2023, students will visit SPB Vanam and PanaiVanam, where they will attend sessions such as "Virtual Water and Natural Cleansers" by Sangeetha and participate in Villupattu, WOW, and handicrafts hands-on activities led by resource person Sujani Balu and others.

Students will also be introduced to various plant species and their unique characteristics at SPB Vanam.

On the final day (April 22nd, 2023), students will embark on a walk along the River Noyyal before spending the remainder of the day at Srinivasan's Farm in Semmedu. Here, a Pattimandram titled "Vivasayam Andrum, Indrum" will be organized for the students' benefit. The day will conclude with a distribution of certificates and mementoes to commemorate their participation.



Siruthuli is confident that this camp will inspire a new group of 100 ambassadors for Mother Earth, who will carry their knowledge and experiences to far-reaching corners of the globe and contribute to the preservation of our environment.
