AIADMK releases manifesto with 297 promises, free fridge and ₹2,000 aid announced

AIADMK released its election manifesto with 297 promises, including free fridge for ration card holders, ₹2,000 aid for unemployed graduates and phased prohibition in Tamil Nadu.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday released the party’s election manifesto containing 297 key promises, outlining welfare measures, employment support and infrastructure development plans.

Among the major announcements, the party has promised to provide free refrigerators to all rice ration card holders and a monthly assistance of ₹2,000 to unemployed graduates registered with employment exchanges. The manifesto also reiterates the commitment to implement prohibition in Tamil Nadu in a phased manner.

The party has proposed increasing old-age pension to ₹2,000 and providing free essentials including one kilogram of dal and one litre of cooking oil to ration card holders. It has also assured steps to waive educational loans taken by students from banks.

For women, the manifesto includes a subsidy of ₹25,000 for five lakh beneficiaries to purchase two-wheelers. Several measures have been announced for workers and traditional sectors, including insurance premium support for weavers, pension increase for weavers above 65 years and free electricity up to 450 units for handloom workers.

In the healthcare sector, the party has promised to establish 2,000 Amma Clinics and regularise the services of nurses with over 10 years of experience. It has also proposed expanding the Amma canteen scheme and improving public health infrastructure.

The manifesto includes provisions for journalists such as removal of income ceiling for pension schemes and allocation of housing plots in major cities. It also proposes legal measures to prioritise employment for Tamil residents in private sector jobs.

For farmers, the party has promised support price revisions including ₹3,500 per quintal for paddy and ₹4,500 per tonne for sugarcane, along with subsidies for solar pump sets and irrigation improvements through river-linking projects.

Infrastructure and development proposals include metro rail expansion in Chennai and implementation of metro projects in Coimbatore and Madurai, development of ring roads in cities, free Wi-Fi in major urban and tourist centres and filling of government vacancies through TNPSC.

The manifesto also outlines welfare measures for fishermen, transgenders, auto drivers and small traders, along with proposals for skill development, startup loans up to ₹25 lakh without collateral and increased rural employment opportunities.

AIADMK stated that the manifesto aims to address cost-of-living challenges, generate employment and ensure inclusive development across Tamil Nadu.
