A 45-year-old man has been detained under the Goondas Act in Coimbatore for allegedly possessing and selling cannabis. The action was taken following a case registered by Thudiyalur police under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Coimbatore: A 45-year-old man has been detained under the Goondas Act in Coimbatore for allegedly possessing and selling cannabis, according to the Coimbatore City Police.
The accused, R. Loganathan (45), was booked by the C6 Thudiyalur Police Station on July 16, 2026, under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, for allegedly possessing and selling cannabis. He was arrested and subsequently remanded in judicial custody.
Based on the recommendation of the Inspector of Police, C6 Thudiyalur Police Station, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Zone, Coimbatore City, further action was initiated against Loganathan under the Goondas Act.
Following the orders of Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Dr. N. Kannan, Loganathan has been detained under the preventive detention provisions of the Goondas Act.
