Coimbatore City Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan said no one has been fined so far through the 40-km automatic speed measuring device placed on the Coimbatore-Avinashi road.



Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan has said that no fine has been levied so far through the automatic speed measuring machine on Avinashi Road.

Speaking to reporters, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan said,



Two-wheelers and four-wheelers are plying without traffic congestion as U-turn facility has been made available in various areas including Coimbatore Avinashi Road, Trichy Road and Mettupalayam Road.

Pedestrians are also being given 30 seconds to stop. Similarly, we have installed 13 cameras o voilence to monitor traffic in the customs area.

Vehicles plying above 40 kmph speed on Avinashi Road will be e-challaned. To a question, he said that on Avinashi Road, youngsters are moving at high speeds at night.

It has been installed to control the accident, not to intimidate the public and has not sent challans to anyone so far.

In 2022, there were 413 accidents, in 2023 there were 369 accidents and in 2022 there were 139 accidental deaths. In 2023, there were 119 accidental deaths. This is what he said.
