You should continue to work with the passion with which you joined the job - Transport Minister K Sivasankar

Transport Minister K Sivasankar, who gave work orders to the next of kin of the employees who died in the line of duty at the Sungam Transport Depot, instructed them to continue to work with the same zeal they joined the service.



Coimbatore: Transport Minister K Sivasankar has advised the employees to continue working in the same spirit as those who joined the job.



On behalf of The Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation, Coimbatore district, a function was held at the Transport Workshop at Chungam in Chungam area to provide succession work to the heirs of the employees who died in the line of duty and the inauguration of air-conditioned rest room for drivers and conductors.



As a part of this programme, a function was also held at coimbatore district workshop level to felicitate the children of the employees who scored high marks in 10th and 12th std.



Tamil Nadu Transport Minister K Sivasankar participated in the function and handed over certificates of appreciation to 27 persons, including heirs' orders to 27 persons, air-conditioned rest rooms in three branches marudhamalai, Sungam 1 and Sungam 2 and children of more than 50 employees.



Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sivasankar said that Rs 145 crore has been disbursed to the families of 550 affected employees of the transport department in Coimbatore alone. During the previous regime, the wage deal negotiations of transport workers were dragged on.

Negotiations on the wage agreement have been concluded during this tenure. Employees have also been given a salary hike. A toll-free bus for women is a very special scheme. At present, the project has been named as The Dawn Journey.

An amount of Rs 2500 crore has been allocated for this project this year. The transport sector is the largest sector in India. Personnel are to be taken for all transport department offices. The Chief Minister had recently issued an order in this regard.

A tender has been floated for the purchase of new buses and new buses will arrive soon. The transport sector is set to witness a revival once again when it comes to hiring new employees.

New hires should work in the same passion as they came to work when they came to work. Tamil Nadu has achieved balanced development. If everyone has gone to the city and got their studies, it is because of the transport department. This is what he said.
