Water theft in Amaravathi river - Farmers' protest announced

The farmers have announced that they will stage a road blockade if they do not stop the illegal theft of water from the Amaravathi river in Tirupur.

Tirupur: Farmers have urged the government to stop the theft of water from the Amaravathi river.

Palaniswami, Makudapathi, Selvaraj and Subramani had illegally attempted to steal water from the Amaravathi river in Vadugapalayam village of Erasanampalayam on the way to Athukal Pudur in Kolathupalayam town panchayat near Dharapuram in Tirupur district.

Since 10 p.m., giant pipes have been digging pits with 3 JCB machines and installing electricity connections along with a water pipe to use the free electricity provided by the government.

Several complaints in this regard have been sent to the Tirupur district collector, chief minister and other revenue departments. At present, the complaint has been repeatedly silenced by the authorities on their mobile phones.

The farmers there have said that they will block the road.
