Elderly Woman Robbed of Gold Chain in Coimbatore

A 63-year-old woman in Coimbatore was robbed of her 8-sovereign gold chain in Kavundampalayam, triggering a police investigation.


Coimbatore: A shocking incident of chain snatching has rattled the residents of Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore. Janaki, a 63-year-old woman, fell prey to chain snatchers in broad daylight.

The incident occurred near her residence in Rahul Gandhi Nagar when she was returning home after purchasing fruits. Two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle approached her and forcibly snatched her 8-sovereign gold chain before fleeing the scene.

The distressed victim raised an alarm, but the perpetrators had already escaped. The local residents who heard her cries rushed to her aid. Janaki, in a state of shock, reported the incident to the Thudiyalur Police Station.

The police have initiated a thorough investigation, registering a case against the unidentified individuals. They are scrutinizing CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the culprits. This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of senior citizens in the neighborhood.

The police are increasing patrols and urging the public to report any suspicious activity. The community has been advised to remain vigilant, especially during the evening hours.
