Obstructing Construction of Buddha Temple Near Udumalai: Petition Submitted to Revenue Officer

The construction of a Buddha temple on privately owned land in the area under the Elayamuthur Panchayat near Udumalai faces interruptions due to allegations of encroachment. A petition has been filed with the Revenue Officer, Jaswant Kannan.

Coimbatore: A controversy has arisen around the construction of a Buddha temple in the Elayamuthur Panchayat area near Udumalai, within the Tirupur district, on privately owned land. With the construction works nearing completion, some individuals have raised concerns, alleging that the temple is being built on government encroached land, leading to a potential halt in the construction process.

The temple, which is being built by private administrators for the Buddhist community, has become the subject of a petition submitted to the Revenue Officer of Udumalai, Jaswant Kannan. According to the temple administration, the construction is proceeding on land that was lawfully leased, countering claims made by a few individuals who, unable to accept the temple's growth, have submitted a misleading petition to disrupt the construction work.

The administrators of the Buddha temple construction have stated that they have provided all necessary documents to the officials, showcasing the legality of the construction site. The officials have assured that a field investigation will be conducted following the review of the documents, and appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings.

This dispute has highlighted the need for clear communication and verification of facts before proceeding with community projects, ensuring that development works do not face unnecessary interruptions. The local authorities are now tasked with resolving the issue to allow the continuation of the temple's construction for the benefit of the community.
