Draft Voter list was published in October; Missing Name Camps were run until December; Final List released in January to all parties: District Collector on Voter List Removals

Addressing this concern, Pati revealed that as of January 22, 2024, Coimbatore district has a total of 30,81,594 voters listed in the final electoral rolls.

Coimbatore: Following reports of voter name deletions from the electoral rolls in Coimbatore, which allegedly barred them from voting, the District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has issued a clarification. Recently, BJPs state leader Annamalai charged that around one lakh voters were missing from the rolls in Coimbatore Parliamentary constituency alone. Addressing this concern, Pati revealed that as of January 22, 2024, Coimbatore district has a total of 30,81,594 voters listed in the final electoral rolls.

According to the process, the draft electoral roll is released in October followed by a special summary revision, thereafter finalizing the list in January. Each time the voter list is compiled, it's done under the supervision of the District Election Officer, who ensures that recognized political parties are informed and can monitor the listing process.

This routine ensures fair incorporation of new young voters and the removal of relocated or deceased individuals' entries. To maintain transparency in this revision process, polling station officers are not only involved, but political parties can assign representatives to oversee the updates. During the updates, citizens are provided with the opportunity to raise objections if any.

Furthermore, in adherence to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, voter list purity is maintained annually. The public is continuously urged by the Election Commission to verify their names in the voter list. Special provisions for verification are made available through the National Voter Service Portal and a toll-free number, 1950.

Kranthi Kumar Pati emphasized that these adjustments are strictly based on the official guidelines by the Election Commission, aiming to uphold transparency and accuracy in the electoral rolls. Voters seeking further information may contact their respective polling station officers, voter registration offices, or district election offices.
